The B.Sc. program Food Science and Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary course of study in the life sciences. It deals with the scientific methods necessary to develop technological processes for producing foodstuffs and healthcare products.

Students of the program are introduced first of all to the relevant basics of natural and engineering sciences. These include knowledge of:

  • biochemical reactions,
  • the importance of microbiological, molecular biological, and analytical methods as well as
  • technical processes to handle and prepare biological source materials.

With the help of internships, students are able to deepen their understanding of these topics.

The program is designed to prepare students for a future career in the food sector as well as for conducting basic and applied research.
