Transfer Center for Food Innovation and Biotechnology (TransFIT)
Concept
The Institute of Food Science and Biotechnology offers a holistic research approach that includes both mechanistic/basic and problem-driven/application-oriented questions. One goal of the institute is to transfer the knowledge generated by research into practical applications through active cooperation with companies and thus strengthen the competitiveness of the German economy in the field of food processing and biotechnology. The Transfer Center for Food Innovation and Biotechnology (TRANSFIT) is an area of technology transfer in which companies are scientifically and technologically supported, especially in development processes for new processes or products. TRANSFIT's range of services ranges from technical consulting and analytical services to the provision of makerspaces in which real products can be manufactured in technical centers using the machines and apparatus there. By establishing cooperations with companies, the bilateral exchange of knowledge and networking are promoted, thus strengthening the visibility but also the importance of food research in Hohenheim for society and the economy
